I just had a meeting with Canon, the next Canon Photomarathon will be on the 20th Oct 2007. This time round they will have a student category, where student below the age of 16 can participate as an individual or as a team. I will be working with them on how to organise the student category.

There will also be a EOS Academy where Canon has just setup, this is targeted at students and schools. More details will be release and I will update later. The rough date for the first workshop will be in the Sept School holiday.

Err...did not discuss the freebies and prize... Smiley Not sure what they are giving for the photomarathon. May be the cap this time round. The photoacademy, they will supply T-shirts to school clubs participating in the program.

I think it is a good idea for CanonGraphers to assist in this project if possible.  ie:  Help the school/student part of the marathon.

If CG wants to come in and help, I will relay the message. At this point, they have started a EOS academy, which is like what CG is doing, so when I spoke to them about CG, they are not so keen. But if we are large enough, they might just join force with us, plans are not firm yet. Now that we have 500 plus members as our user base, they might want to work with us to kick start the project.

Canon is also renovating the Vivo city show room to make space for a gallery. Canon will look for nice Photos taken with Canon Cameras, print on their printers and display there. Like a hall of fame kind of concept.

I don't think it's a good idea to compete with 9000000KG gorilla.  Nor do we need to join force with them, but that is definately an option.  However, being associated with them is a good thing.  Can't hurt.
