I am ok with the one on the left..more like a artistic painting.. the one on the right doesn't work for me.

the first one although oversmoothened... it still works but barely...perhaps a little less blown on the face... or to blow the chin area as well.. its weird like this..but as i said.. it still works..
however for the 2nd shot... its all wrong... the black splotches behind her and all makes the whole pic look super weird... what was the intended purpose of the black splotches? perhaps u can share with us why u put them there?

agree with UK, the second picture does not work, I am draw to those black blotches and they really does not convey anything.
the first one, I like the idea but not as much with the execution.
Dreamy is a great possibility.
Fuzzy is an error in execution. You can create a dreamy look without fuzziness. Right direction though. However I would have blow nthe background more becasue the tropical vegetation does not lend to this goth/victorian or whatever look you are trying to achieve.

#1 is overly soft for me. I know the intended dreamy effect but the skin is too soft in this context. The background doesn't go along with the costume - a climate mismatch.
#2 think you are drawing this concept from Japanese manga and anime but I feel this does not work due to the choice of outfit and colours.

Thanks for the comments guys.
For the first pic, ill try to make background vegetation more blown out. Yes it's rather distracting and the face too blown up...
For the 2nd pic, those black blotches is actually the black angel wings attached to the back. Tink i've overblowned them too much till they look like black blotches. Hmm, and the background for this... or maybe ill just choose another pic with a less distracting background to DI instead of this one...

These are totally... how do you put it politely... THESE PICS TOTALLY SUX!!! Using post processing to try some gimmicky effects in photoshop in order to save the pictures is one way to save the day. But using them to try make a bad picture look passable is totally not acceptable. it's back to the drawing board...

Yes i agree really they sux too
that's why i didn't post the rest of the series as im not particularly satisfied with them either.
This is my 1st attempt with an DSLR so im still practicing tho, but i do appreciate some useful criticisms on why they sux tho...not comments on discussing why or if i made it suckier by post processing them.
Bad directions, bad angle, bad choice of background, anything i can improve on? opps, think i answered myself, nvm then

You have exactly stated where you have gone wrong, more or less if these are not handled properly before anything else. I guess there ain't nothing much else to walk about. Good shoot more, post them up, you will see the improvement soon.

Basically, the warm fuzzy look does not go along well with the image shot on hand. It's some gothic costume shot in the park. Not the type I'd use for this effect. Personally, I feel it fits more for high key shots, like an empty beach with just a lady walking along with the water at her feet. Perhaps then would I use this effect. For your shots, it's more of a dark feel, which means I'd either blur it a little, or keep it sharp but cloudy.
