have you tried the 7D? I actually quite like the AF zones in the 7D, seems to be very suitable for action photography and certainly much better than the 9 points in the other non-1D bodies (5D/50D etc).

Slightly better I guess. I sold off the 5D due to poor AF ability.

I really like the way the 7D AF during AI Servo. It will highlight the AF points for you so you know where it is focusing. I'm pretty sure the 5DII can't do that.

Yeah....1D3 and 1D4 can....I will still choose 1D3 if I can only have 1 camera

Does the 1D4 has highlighted AF points when it is on AI servo?  I was told that this is the first time canon is trying this out.  There is some trade off in doing this- amount of light entering the sensor maybe reduced.

the 7D also has this feature. I find it very useful as I can roughly see if the AI Servo is tracking correctly before triggering off. I don't see why there will be less light since the display is only in the viewfinder?

I see the AF points highlighted, but in black not in red.

for which body are you referring to? the 7D also has black highlights of the focal points during AI Servo. During one shot AF it is red.
