Hey mac bros out there, just out of curiosity. How many years do you use your macbook before you start to think of upgrading? The average for windows notebook is about 2-3years. So is mac lasting longer?

Also there's IT show round the corner...is it better to buy there or your regular shop. BTW, which shop would you recommend to go if IT show is not the place to be?

I was using my PowerBook G4 for about 5 years before I upgraded to the MacBook Pro in November 2008.

I'd recommend purchasing from Apple directly via Student Educational Discount, or go to 8flags @ any universities.

is it really a virus or just worms? I don't know Unix-based systems as intimately as my old big iron OS, but they should have enough kernel access control in the architecture to prevent real viruses.

windows, on the other hand, is architected to have no control.

Meaning you are well behave... and well protected.   I have seen all kinds of viruses traffic on the network generated by microsoft and Solaris OS.

In fact on Vista, I find it even more save. I did not even use anti-virus cos it really slows down the computer, especially norton! Their build in windows defender, popup blocker are doing a very good job. Very Good As for emails and etc I do not open attachment from unknown source.
