my canon inkjet ip3650 is dead too... Intermittent to be exact.... computer showing  printer is online and then offline.... then online... able to print for a while then stop working for a long time...  wait for a few days...it works again...

Luckily this model has onsite support!  Initally tech told me that my cable maybe an issue, offer to give me a 'better' (high speed usb 2) cable.  Well, the cable i was using was old so i thought he maybe right.

He came and tested it himself... aha.. it really dead .. reinstall drivers... no use...  i myself tested it on my notebook running Windows XP,  so it is not OS or PC issue....

Root cause - motherboard failure...i was told...

absolute power corrupts absolutely. canon is powerful and corrupted my CF card.

they change the motherboard of the printer only!   i have no confidence in this printer... gonna try to print more intensively before end of warranty.  it will be deliver back to me on thursday.

so printer change?

color laserjet is good for printing document.  but i think not very good for printing photos.  anyway, i don't print much... 

get a colour laserjet lah.
