It could be a faulty capacitor somewhere also. Try letting your PC run non-stop for 2 days and see if it acts up. After prolong discharge of the capacitor it works again.

I doubt it is as simple as bad RAM contact due to oxidation.   Normally that only happen if your PC is more than 3 years old or more.

My half dead printer.... sometime go offline and sometime online... and if i use for about 15mins ...it went dead.. then i wait for about 3 days and try to power up to use it again..it works for a few mins then dead again.  Strange problem...eventually replaced the motherboard of the printer.

There could be some other issue... capacitor..possible too.

OK. I will leave it on this whole weekend... Hopefully my daughter, Hui En does not pester me to switch it OFF. She likes to make sure that the lights, fans, etc are off before sleeping. The CPU has a light which will alert her that the PC is ON. Will have to tape the light. Smiley

We'll see how the PC behaves after this weekend. Thanks for the suggestion, Victor.

Problems of this nature are difficult to trouble-shoot and resolve eh...

So better try out Victor's suggestion as the warranty will expire in Sep. 2009.
