Question for everyone.

Who uses a tripod and how often do you shoot with a tripod?
How often do you like to, if possible, shoot with a tripod?

I shoot architectural stuff most of the time and I plan my shots before hand. If I'm going to use my TS-E 24 or when I know aligning the verts anf horizons is critical, then the tripod has to follow.

Wah so impressive ah?

May be this small Gitzo Traveller can make the grade for you. Weighing only 1.18 kg, but supports up to 8 kg. However, the supplied head supports only up to 4 kg. I'm sure there are better options out there. Measuring 41 cm, but it extends to 140 cm. Very high weight to max load ratio (6.8:1). Should be very good for travel photography.

Recommendation based on his earlier requirements and the first statement on this page.

Just something light and strong for travel photography  Cheesy

Can't think of anything else that fits then. Can you?

I don't think so. You can always fit something else on it if you like. Even a Made in China Kangrinpoche 3A ballhead should suffice for heavier requirements. Alternatively Really Right Stuff have a smaller ball head too. Fits the Gitzo Traveller perfectly.

At CP, the Gitzo 6140 was labelled $1000  Shocked

err. I do not remember Gitzo having any tripods going into the 6000 range in their current line up. There are only 3 models in their systematic range in the 5000 series. That's the GT5530S, GT5540LS and the GT5560SGT. These are definitely NOT light, although they are very, very, very strong. Not suitable for Travel Photography at all in my opinion.

Anyway, list price for the Titanium Traveller in Singapore should be S$4550 but there are other retailers around the region is pricing it at about S$3800. Limited to 390 PERSONALISED pieces worldwide and it has lifetime warranty. So this investment should theoretically last forever. Especially if you only choose to engrave your family name instead of your first name. Your grand children can inherit it!  giggling...
