Found out that there's no restriction on photography  Smiley

Anyway, here's a shot for your critique & comments.

The purpose of the shot is to show movements & the grit  + determination of the jockey & horse to stay ahead of the competition.

Lighting wise, I've got to admit it's not good. Should the sharpness of the subject (rider & horse) be better?

You using medium format, the aspect ratio looks different.

Actually, I'm using 40D & shooting a la "machine gun" mode & this was, unfortunately, the only workable shot but still needed cropping, level, exposure & contrast tweaking + noise reduction.

I definitely need plenty of practice.  Tongue

What would be the best shutter speed to use? Would a monopod or tripod with 3 way head help also?

I'd pick a monopod and practice panning shots. You might want to try anything between 1/125 to 1/500
