Maximum burst
«

According to 40D specs the max burst with RAW should be approx. 17 frames. My camera sets the limit to 6.
I just compared the setup of my camera to a camera on a friend on mine with same settings and memory card. The only difference been the firmware version: his 1.0.3, mine 1.0.8. His camera sets the limit to 16 frames.
What could possibly cause this difference?

Switch OFF noise reduction and highlight preservation whatever.
Those two functions alone slows down the processing speed tremendously.

ISO also affect the burst rate.

the best way to optimize frame rate is to switch off all in camera processing... n just shoot as it is... probably default... tried it out a few times when I was shooting the 40D collateral. it should be the same for all cameras...
