Its not real conversion, its virtual..  Since it is cache.. it is smart enough to store most frequently used data in the RAM, rather than keep fetching from the harddisk when needed. That's how it speed up.  In the old days... people buy RAM expansion card and run software that make use of the RAM as Cache..  So the bigger the Cache and/or RAM more data get stored on it, the better..  in those days programs were rather small, in fact, we create virutal drive on the RAM and execute it so minimise disk access.  XP is so disgusting so much RAM unused and wasted all the time!! Like what Vic said.. very inefficient usage of RAM.


how to convert RAM to cache? it's still no faster than the system bus.

if you had used one of those old "real" operating systems, you will know what I mean. windows is for boys, even UNIX is only good enough for young men  Evil
