for those still yet to serve, those serving, and those who don't get to serve, this would probably sound bizarre, but I miss the rumbling and bone jarring ride of my M113, and the all-hell-break-loose sounds of a major gunnery live firing. For those who have been to an armour live firing you would have heard what I call the "heavy metal quartet" tank gun + .5 Browning + GPMG + Ultimax well here you can see and hear what the "violin" of the quartet sounds like. I particularly miss the echoes when the gun pauses. click for Ultimax 100 LMG livefiring http://www.defensereview.com/stories/ultimax/U100%20DefReview%20mpg.avi

hwchoy Defensereview is blocked by company firewall! I don't miss the rumbling at all ! Do you have any hearing problem? But i guess your built is fit for armour. my fingers really bruised after multiple strip/reasemble or load/unload the super heavy weapon practise for test! The heavy weapon livefiring was shiok but then it would have been better if i can see for myself whether it hit or not. Do you happen to know cpt alan tang? I think he should be one of the OC during that period. Signaller 'hear' alot of things espcially in hq. You probably also heard of Wong Kar Khoon. Small world, 10 years apart. I served as a signaller but genna marked by the CSM.

Hur hur, my brother was from 46 SAR a couple of years back. He's a M113 driving. But nothing beats standing near a 155mm howitzer firing. The "shockwave" will stun u for a sec or two. Still remember in Thailand during my Fatep, one gun (primus btw) was parked under a tree. The tree was pretty healthy looking with tons of branches and leaves and stuff. At the end of the day the tree become bald and the ground was totally covered with leaves. I managed to get a shot of the round leaving the barrel during my NZ live firing. Quality ain't that good tho. Incidentally i was a SAW gunner during my BSLC. The ultimax 100 IAs a lot.

Who remembers in BMT when they tekan us and tell us to run!!! Arty fire!!! Forget it lo.. sure die one... Is the ultimax the same weapon as the saw?

yeah the firing blast from 155 and tank guns really damn shiok. but I am used to blasting as engineer. my biggest blast was 280kg of TNT during Thailand (but at the Crescendo Base 2 in Ratchaburi, not the one at Kanchanaburi). first time I see my lao encek run after lighting the fuse
