Yup, they are pretty cool about it in Sydney. Aviation spotters here are welcomed as a additional form of security deterrent.

actually I think Changi Business Park is good place to spot the planes coming in for a landing. anybody wanna go check it out?

Depends on time of year. Changi Beach Park is not too bad too. Can be tactical and shoot along changi coast road along the fence.

Police normally just shoo you away if you have a big camera. Just some verbal warning.

There's a gate along the road before the airport fire station. Can just turn in and wait there for a while. You should see cars parked there. Best times to spot is from 7 to 10ish and after 4pm where traffic picks up again.
