Saw one with 2TB storage in a RAID0 configuration for US$500+/- .... tempting

Easier to recover. Data loss is not so drastic if you have your data spread out.

exactly what DP said, this is a RAID element. I call this LPPL reasoning. who is all these "data recovery people"?

Either way there are many configs of RAID. RAID 1 is more ideal compared to RAID 0.

there is no real "ideal" RAID level, it depends on what is your storage performance requirements, which are: read performance, write performance, availability level, and recoverability window.

Can config as either RAID 0 or 1.

RAID 0 is for read performance, RAID 1 is for protection.
