Alternative Focusing Screens

Alternatives to the Canons, Haoda and Katz Eye.

They seem to re-cut quite a few screens from the ones for the 1D series. Cut and fit?

omg. that's $112 SGD. close to a brand new $90 canon screen.
but the split prism stuff is amazing.
i'd take the Ec-A or the Ec-L but never the Ec-B

Hehehe ... why is it that I figured you would be da first to be interested in this thread?
In fact, I wanted to post up, specifically, the link to the 5D page then I thought ... nah, got to be fair.
$112 is perfectly OK by me considering that you're getting otiginal Canon screens so exposure/compatibility would not be a problem. Also the added versatility the screens offer over the usual stuff for the 5D, especially if you start getting into manual focus and other non-AF applications.
Seems that the Katz Eye is the only one that offers specifically made screens for Canon (yeah, I know what you feel about KE), where as the Haoda are sourced refurbished (normally Minolta) screens.

i'm actually en-route to get the Canon Ee-S one
no split prism, more matte and makes the OOF and IF images very clearly known.
best part is USD 35.

Depends on personal/shooting needs.
Which was why I've always liked medium and large formats. You can easily mask/mark out whatever on the screen anytime you need. Focusing was a snap, in general because the ground glass was fairly rough.

I paid $120 for my 20d split prism screen, and have to install by myself.

:wow:this is what i'm looking for. have been used to the manual focusing screen since i started until the digital autofocusing thing. actually i feel more comfortable focusing manually(except for the speed).
just like to know if anyone of you installed one already?
i'm keen on getting one.
seems like that are more screens for 300D-400D and 10D-30D

Err dun tink anyone here has tried this particular supply yet.
Perssonally speaking, the Ec-B grid looks like something I could really use.
U wanna try one first and let us know?
