Author Topic: YOUTH OLYMPICS WINNING CITY ANNOUNCEMENT  (Read 1942 times)

The Youth Olympics winning city announcement will be made on 21st February at the Padang at 7.00pm. Looks like the Ministry of Community, Youth and Sports together with the Singpore Sports Council is organising a big do with life feed of the announcement.

The Sports School is also planning to march from the Botanic Gardens to City Hall on that day  at 3pm to garner more support and excitement. This is subject to police approving this "march".

May be a unusual subject to shoot.

Whether we get it or not is immaterial. It is the support and loyalty we Singaporeans give which is more important. (don't mean any disrespect to our foreign friends here in CG) MCYS and SNOC is quietly confident of our chances of getting this bid.

This annoucement will be broadcast "live" from Lausanne, Switzerland home of the International Olympic Committee. If you remember late last year our PM visited the Olympic Museum and called on the President of IOC when he was in Switzerland. Moscow's mayor did not visit IOC but are depending on their exprience in hosting the Olympics back in 1980 (Huh i think)

Sounds to me like shooting an election rally results announcement, as well as a procession (road march) rather than 'sports'. They might have some displays of athletes though, but I doubt if there will be true-blue sporting events.

it's more of shooting sports if we are selected as the hosting city?

i rather shoot it this way for free than to pay a ticket to travel to russia

Ahh...you were'nt very clear.

Yeah, but thenagain, you can hoot sports in SG anytime. There are countless events, training, leagues, competitions, trials etc etc etc forever going on.

Yes Michael, the Sports School is right next to Innova JC.

As for shooting sports, yes, there are lots of sporting events to shoot in Singapore. This is the Youth Olympics where all the top youth athletes will be participating in over 40 different sports in 10 days.  Some of these have never been staged in Singapore before like modern pentathlon and a few others which I cannot recall. You can shoot till you pengsan!

So why don't we "Stand Up for Singapore" (I sound so patriotic) and this is once in a lifetime for us. We may never see the Olympics being held in Singapore and the Youth Olympic is the next best thing.  Group Wave
