Which one to get la? Cannot decide leh. Feel like kicking myself hard in the ass if i get PW or Skyport cos i could have saved money and gotten some 3rd party flashguns.  Pissed Pissed

But using IR is a pain as well. After shooting a few rounds last weekend, the line of sight thing is a pain cos my other flash is usually at weird angles and locations. I didn't noticed it not firing until i was wondering why my fill light was a tad dark.  Laugh till drop Laugh till drop Laugh till drop

Yes. I am blur like that.

PW have to get tourists to buy it for me but i kinda prefer PW except the cost. Fricking 700 for the PW II.

Skyport is cheaper but subsequent receiver is still gonna cost me 300 for 1.

STE2 is definitely the cheapest option and it support ETTL but ... i use manual.  giggling...

Smiley Heard pretty good things about the Skyport system. Pretty much does the same things as PW like wireless remote triggering of flash (for the more expensive USB versions anyway)via computer. If can be had for less than PW why not? Or if dun need E-TTL then use those Chinese made radio triggers lor giggling... For short distance triggering should be quite usable

I was seriously thinking of the Cactus triggers but after calculating costs inc shipping etc, it's not cheap anymore considering the horrid reputation it has (can't fire, slow tranmission times, severely limited range despite glorious advertising claims unless you want to play electrical engineer). If it were really only US$15-$19, then it would be good to playplay and try out for awhile.

My take is if you're only doing indoor/short-range work, borrow and try the ST-E2 and see if it suits your need.

Or I would jump right in and get the Skyports. One of my friends uses it in his commercial studio and so far not a single complain.

the thing is 1. the cost of the extra receiver is almost the same price as a PW. 2. the range is lower. 3. those things dun seem to be built for outdoor use.

don't really wanna go for the cheaper china ones. not reliable. i don't mind paying a premium for reliability but that's me.

if canon made radio triggers, i would get it.

the problem with IR is the line of sight. i couldnt even fire the flash that was on my side. had to turn the port to face my master for it to fire. dun tell me can bounce cos that didnt work and i was in my living room ...

Then get the Skyports, unless you want to fork out for the PWs.

If it matters that the flash fire each and every time without fail then get the PW's.  If it is not critical then get the cheap triggers.

yeah. so tats why now i am considering whether i need ETTL or not. if yes, then i will get the ste2 now and wait for this trigger to be out. if not, then i will just get the pwii and work with manual.

since u already got the ste2, this will be good if u plan to use the long range capability.
