my 3-month old 40D shutter started 'throwing tantrums' yesterday afternoon while i was helping a good fren take some product shots. after acquiring AF, i fully-depressed the cam's shutter button and nothing happens...!!! half-press again and then full-press, still nuthing... repeat it third time and this time round it fires... therafter, the problem came and gone...

this afternoon went Pulau Ubin to shoot some landscape with a PG fren, problem still intermittent... ended up shooting alot in portrait using the hand-grip button... sibeh no mood... will be bringing to CSC during lunchtime tomolo...  Sad

Need to ask -

1. Anybody that i should be asking for to get 'better service'...?
2. I did the chart test for my 17-55 and suspect tt there is slight front focusing problem. so i send it in together for them to calibrate, can?

thanks in advance for the advice...

1. Canon Service Centre already has the best service.
2. If it is under warranty, bring it back fast.

One tip would be to turn off your camera, and turn on again. Also, when switching lenses, ensure it's powered off as well.

Canon Service Centre!

The safest bet would be for them to electronically test your camera and ensure the button is not half-connected.

Hmmm... seems to me the problem from the 20D & 30D is still occurring with the 40D. Fragile shutter button.  Cheesy

I think you have just identified the root cause of all your problems.  Laugh till drop

Like Michael said, just take it to CSC and you'll be well taken care of. Hope it gets solved soon and looking forward to hooting again with you.
