is it normal to be able to swivel the head when it is not in the normal position cos i think i just broke my flash.
i now can swivel it to different positions without pressing the button. good thing is that it still locks into position and when it is facing direct front, it still locks. so does the tilt function as well.

If it's nice and firmly locked straight-ahead in the frontal only position, it sounds OK.
Different flashers have slightly different designs. My Sigma has a 2-way locking mechanism. Means you have to press one button to bounce, and another button to swivel. Some flashers need to press only one button.
Do you have one or two buttons on your body?
Do you still have to press press the right buttons to get it unlocked or no need to press can anyhow move?

Oou...your body only need to pless wan button ah?
Like dat, sometimes when you think you're pointed forwards, your head might still be swinging slightly sideways left or right, but in the heat of the moment, you might not notice it, and it's not locked rigidly.
Try pointing your head straight ahead, without any upwards angle, and gently move it left and right a bit and see if it locks rigidly. You shoule hear the head make a slight 'pop' or 'snap' sound when it locks into place, and you should not be able to swivel it if you don't press your button first.

haha. the problem is when i press the button, there is a clack sound instead of a pop sound.

OOI! What OT?
Determining how your head behaves depending on how you pint it is part of identifying the problem mah.
OK, your flash is definitely BUSTED!
Buy another one, and get a spare while you're at it.
