oops my bad I was reading the EF 55-200 review http://www.photozone.de/Reviews/Canon%20EOS%20Lens%20Tests/45-canon-eos-aps-c/193-canon-ef-55-200mm-f45-56-usm-ii-lab-test-report--review

but the same question applies. if there is no focusing ring, why have an AF/MF switch?  Gone Mad

There is a focusing ring. I have this lens in school. the 4 stop IS is also very good. No issue hand holding at 1/60 at the 200mm end.

victor, I'm talking about the 55-200. the review says twice canon didn't bother to put in a focusing ring, which I find incongruent.

The Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS, at around $400, is it really worth it?

How is the image quality? How good is the IS? How is the handling?

Has anyone tried it yet to give a proper feedback on it (and not just screaming "Non L!!!")

Hi Michael,
U can get this lens cheap 2nd hand as plenty are sellling their kit lens everywhere. U can handpick and bargain! Group Wave
