hey will, i think it's good that if you are going for macro photography, might want to invest in 2 critical items, imho..

1. tripod
2. split prism focusing screen :x

nooo you buy a second flash Cheesy because the biggest challenge at macro distance is adequately lighting your subject, and if it is a three dimensional object or has internal structure (like a tubular flower) you will need ways to get light into the places you want.

yes that 20D with the weird viewfinder is mine  Afro
it is so precise I can tell the misfocusing on my 50/1.4

yup, heard from another fren of mine of this. in fact, hv been looking out for a pre-own 580 in B&S recently, but not high priority yet.  Cheesy

can i know more about this 'weird viewfinder' of yours? as in how is it fitted on? DIY or need CSC to do it? sorrie if the questions sounds noob.  Embarrassed

its just a precision machined piece of plastic that replaces your stock viewfinder. you flip the 20D upside down with the mount open, fumble about blindly in the area "above" the mirror (which is actually below since the body is now upside down) and releases a metallic frame clip that holds the viewfinder in place. then you exchange the pieces, and reverses what you just did. now the trick is to get the circles on the viewfinder eye piece, and the circles on the viewfinder screen, precisely aligned.
