I have a little problem with my workflow. pix are shot in RAW with Adobe RGB profile. then opened in DPP and transfered to PSCS2 in 16-bit. after whatever necessary processing is needed in PSCS2 I convert to 8-bit and output to JPEG.
However the JPEG output has a different colour from what I see in PSD. what steps am I missing? do I need to convert the colour profile before output to JPEG?

From aRGB, you need to convert it back to sRGB after pushing/pulling the curves. Don't use DPP. Use Adobe's Camera Raw to do that.

so I convert profile to sRGB just before I output to JPEG? I prefer the RAW sharpening on DPP than ACR leh. but in this case DPP is not cause of the problem.

Do the conversion during the RAW to TIFF/DNG stage. Don't do RAW sharpening in ACR or DPP. Do it in CS.

no I don't understand. don't we want to keep the aRGB gamut throughout the post processing?
sharpening in CS as in USM? I dislike USM leh, too much noise.

aRGB gives you a wider gamut to pull the colours in ACR. After that you convert it back to sRGB. Cos those inbuilt RAW sharpening features are not very good. Not even.

Uncle Choy
your Work Flow all F U.
Here is what you do.
Use ACR to do the conversion and open as aRGB and 16 bit file.
Do your DI, last thing to do is sharpening.
before savings as jpeg, you need to convert file to sRGB and 8bit.
Then save jpeg file.

yes so I convert to sRGB/8-bit just before saving as JPEG right?
will take another look at ACR. I actually when from ACR to DPP Raw sharpening because it gives better sharpening with less noise (vs USM). Don't forget I am a pixel peeper and I do not do a lot of the DI on my documentation subjects.
