Hello masters out there,
I would like to seek your expert opinions in shooting models, like what I need to bring for the shoot, what I need to bring in general, what kind of model am I supposed to be looking for, best scenic place for outdoor shoot, etc.

For info, I've done malay and indian weddings in the past both studio and outdoor and also event coverages. I wonder how different is it from model shoot. Can anyone enlightened me please. Thank you very much. Your kind feedbacks, inputs and suggestions will definitely help me in my learning curve to better people photography.

model shoot? indoor or outdoor? i suggest you start with a prime lens and then learn from there.

the cheapest 50/1.8 would be a good idea to start out

Well, like I said earlier in the previous thread. The 17-55IS is a bad lens choice if you intend to shoot portraits.

Eh, 40D, 1.6x crop factor, get the cheap 50/1.8... definitely get it...

eh, not to mention the 17-55 works for events, but definitely not for portraits

50mm to start off. Can always ditch it when it doesn't suit your style.

What kinda model shoot?Mass orgies with CSers or private shoots in which you can communicated with the model unmolested?
Next, what is the model shoot for?TFCD, just for fun, for something else?

Not the mass orgies type definitely. Maybe a smaller scale.

Where do you guys go for outdoor shoot? Cause i'm not trying the indoor yet for now.

About the 50, I'll give it a shot. I like the 85 though. BU Tstill yet to get myself accustomed to the min focusing distance.

Any other suggestions or tips? Thank you.

The questions you ask are too broad.  First identify the type of shoot you would like to do, then we can provide advice, including location suggestions, e.g. if you're doing a nude, then the location will be quite different to an outdoor fashion shot.

What to bring depends on type shoot again.  If you're serious, pay for professional models with experience and provide decent makeup artist - your results will be MUCH better.  This way you learn much quicker (shorter learning curve) what is possible and how a professional model acts and what is expected of the photographer (this is of course different from model to model).  Once you have some experience under your belt in terms of handling models, then move back to TFCD, inexperienced models.

As for equipment, you have everything you need....
