my friend just dropped her 400d with the 50mm f/1.8 last night. the lens filter cracked and dented and the af no longer works. repairing the lens will cost $100. repairs to her cam is $120. i am trying to remove the filter and see whether iq is affected but the filter seems to be binded to the lens already. anyone got suggestion how to remove it?

Edit: Please refrain from foul language.

Tried using rubberbands? Put 1 around the lens, another around the filter. Then twist both in opposite directions.

Throw away the 50mm and buy a new one. It's cheaper. As long as the filter is stuck to the lens, the threads are already off. Don't bother trying to remove it.
