I like to find out from the pros here regarding the usage of zooms and primes. If i were to shoot in a building with not much room, would using a zoom be better or a short focal prime? For example, the distance btw u and the model is less than 5m, what shld i use to capture a full length shot? I am contemplating getting a prime for the sharpness but no idea which one to get. Of course i can use my zoom lenses but the IQ just can't cut it.  Undecided

you can always try the 24/1.4L and 35/1.4L for space constrained locations.

Not so rich! How about the 35 f/2 or the 28?

if you are complaining about the IQ from zooms (presumably L zooms) how can you be satisfied with non-L wides? I would vouch for 35/1.4L especially if you want to do available light at near to wide-open.

Its way out of my budget at the moment. I wish i could but my wife will kill me. Would the 50mm be long for distances such as this?

yes it would be way too long. an L-zoom should be more than good enough.

actually dun have a fixed budget but L primes out of the question definitely. i checked out the sigma 30mm the other day. going for 800 plus. anyone used it before?

i dunno. comparing my 85 with my L zooms, it seems like the prime is still better than the zooms although it could be entirely psychological.  Cheesy
